The Lab Fellowship Program is now open. Nominate someone extraordinary.

We incubate high-impact campaigns that engage the public in the fight for responsible technology.

How we see it

Technology should serve humanity, not the other way around. Advanced social media algorithms and a new generation of artificial intelligence threaten to shift the balance in the wrong direction.

We believe that all people — not just the powerful few — should have a voice in how powerful and socially-impactful technologies are deployed and what values they pursue.

We know what happens when we leave these decisions solely in the hands of tech companies, locked in a race for dominance. We get social media that’s proving toxic for our democracy, our mental health, and our children. We don’t have to continue making that mistake. But we do have to raise our voices.

What we do

Lights On Labs incubates high-impact leaders and startup campaigns that reach people on issues that matter most to them — issues like jobs, teen safety, privacy, discrimination, and democracy.

We provide our partners with strategy, communications, connections, and funding sources they need to rapidly grow their reach and call thousands of concerned citizens to action. When the moment calls for it, we run our own home-grown awareness campaigns.

The Lab Fellowship Program is now open

We offer emerging and early-stage leaders a year-long capacity building program to accelerate their ability to advocate and organize for responsible technology. Nominate someone extraordinary.
